Technology

Measure and manage your operations - including food waste! Food that ends up in the garbage costs so much money and is a waste of resources. There are many technological solutions out there to help measure food waste and provide insights to prevent and reduce it in the future.

If you are not keen on using technology to measure food waste, consider tracking it manually for at least two weeks to gain an idea of what ends up in the garbage. Here is a link to a template.

Staff training is important to ensure a successful food waste diversion program.

Consider what communication channels will be most effective in reaching your staff. Ideas include team meetings and communication boards. Also don’t forget to include it in the on-boarding process for new team members!
