The Garden Guru Series

In coordination with the community gardens, the LFI coordinates the Garden Guru Series from spring to fall; a series of workshops hosted by local experts on garden-related and food-gathering techniques. This series is open to the public and is well attended by a variety of Revelstokians. Every year brings new topics and presenters to learn from.
Historically Revelstoke was home to several farms and orchards. Many fruit trees remain and without proper management they attractant bears and other wildlife to their rotting fruit. Together with Revelstoke Bear Aware, the LFI supports their gleaning program and runs workbees to process the fruit into dried and canned products. The processed fruit is then donated to the Revelstoke Food Bank to ease the overwhelming donations of fresh fruit and to keep its recipients healthy all year long.
