Food security in Revelstoke
For Revelstoke, food security means that all community residents have access to nutritious, safe, affordable food that meets our needs, supports our cultures, and is produced in ways that are environmentally sound, socially just, adaptable to change and supportive of self-reliance and collaboration.
Revelstoke Food Security Strategy
The Revelstoke Food Security Strategy 2022 analyzes our local food system and provides recommendations for strengthening our community’s food security. The implementation of the strategy is lead by the LFI’s Food Security Coordinator.
To help people get to know the Revelstoke local food system we have created the Revelstoke Food Asset Map. This map showcases local food suppliers, farms, farmers markets, producers, processors, community kitchens and educational programming.

Our Food Security Coordinator has gathered the relevant information about the party platforms and their goals for food security & production in the region.
Our goal is to compile the information based on the candidates’ responses - The Local Food Initiative (LFI) is a non-partisan organization and is not affiliated with any political party. All of our programs and initiatives are rooted in community wellbeing, sustainability, and inclusivity.
Join the Committee.
In the fall of 2024, the LFI and the food security coordinator re-started the Food Security Advisory Committee (FSAC). This important committee guides the work of the Food Security Strategy 2022 and implementing the strategies alongside the coordinator.
We are looking for new members for the Food Security Advisory Committee who want to contribute towards a sustainable and just food system in Ottawa, and to guide the implementation of the Food Security Strategy 2022.
